The Xbox 360 Marketplace will be discontinued on July 29, 2024, but backward-compatible games can still be purchased in the Microsoft Store.

Many non-backward-compatible titles, including Street Fighter X Tekken and Sonic '06, will have their DLCs removed.

Several Xbox Live Arcade games like Bionic Commando Rearmed and Cloudberry Kingdom are still available and offer entertaining gaming experiences.

After 18 years, the Xbox 360 Marketplace will be closing on July 29, 2024. Backward-compatible games will still be available in the Microsoft Store, but games that are not playable on newer Xbox consoles will disappear permanently. This also applies to DLCs for many non-backward-compatible titles, including Street Fighter X Tekken, Anarchy Reigns, Sonic '06, and more.

While most 360 games had a physical release, most Xbox Live Arcade titles were only available digitally. Unfortunately, many of the great XBLA games that are not backward-compatible have already been removed from the lineup, but there are definitely still some available.

8 Bionic Commando Rearmed

8 Xbox 360 Games You Should Buy Before The Store Closes

One of the notable omissions in the backward compatibility program is Bionic Commando Rearmed. For some reason, the second game is available, but not the first. Both games are great, with the first title being a phenomenal remake of the original NES game. The controls are extremely precise, and speedrunning through the levels is incredibly enjoyable.

Rearmed 1 is not as extensive as the second game, but that's okay because it incorporates light Metroidvania elements with backtracking in multiple areas. You can get this game on Steam, but it doesn't work for many people. If you want a game that works right after installation, get it on Xbox 360; additionally, you can unlock bonuses for the 3D title Bionic Commando from 2009.

7 Cloudberry Kingdom

8 Xbox 360 Games You Should Buy Before The Store

Cloudberry Kingdom is a platformer game from 2013 where you simply have to reach the end of each level while avoiding all the hazards along the way. You can play in single-player mode, but it's a lot of fun in multiplayer mode. A common element of many cooperative platformers at that time was the sheer chaos of all those characters on the screen. In the 2D Mario games of that era, it was easy to outmaneuver other players.

Cloudberry is easier since all four people play the level simultaneously. When their characters stack on top of each other, they overlap, and it's enough for just one person to reach the end for the group to proceed. Given the high difficulty, this system works very well. However, don't attempt to complete the game 100% as the last two levels are practically impossible.

6 Death Tank

8 Xbox 360 Games You Should Buy Before The

In historical terms, Death Tank is an extremely interesting title. Originally, it started as a bonus addition in the Sega Saturn game PowerSlave and later reappeared in the Saturn port of Duke Nukem 3D. The Xbox Live Arcade version is an enhanced remake of it, featuring improved graphics and online gameplay.

Death Tank has gameplay that is very similar to Scorched Earth or Worms and is a lot of fun to play with friends. These Saturn games are very expensive today, but Death Tank on Xbox 360 costs only $15. The title has a fascinating history, and because of that and its fun factor, it's worth considering purchasing.

5 Fez

8 Xbox 360 Games You Should Buy Before

The Xbox 360 era was the time when many classic indie games were released, such as Super Meat Boy, Limbo, Castle Crashers, Trials HD, 'Splosion Man, and many more. Another title that should be included in this catalog but is often not mentioned is Fez. This is likely due to the controversial main developer, Phil Fish, but the game itself is a masterpiece of indie gaming.

As an indie game of its time, Fez took one element (the rotation of a 2D world) and turned it into a whole game. It is a fantastic experience from start to finish, and the title was actually ported to many modern systems. However, there is something special about playing the original 360 version as it remained exclusive to the 360 for over a year.

4 Fruit Ninja Kinect

8 Xbox 360 Games You Should Buy

It may come as a surprise, but it's worth getting a Kinect game, and that's because Fruit Ninja Kinect is a hidden gem. Fruit Ninja was a classic mobile game at the time and it was a perfect fit for Kinect. Many Kinect games were overly complex and demanded too much from the device, but with Fruit Ninja, all you had to do was slice fruits.

It's a lot of fun, and you can even play it with a friend. Just make sure you're not too close, so you don't accidentally hit each other. This game is exclusive to Xbox 360, so if you think you want to play this game in the future, get it now.

3 Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition

8 Xbox 360 Games You Should

Among the three digital Street Fighter 360 games, the one that you should have is Third Strike Online Edition. The 360 port of Hyper Fighting is nothing special, and you can actually get HD Remix with the Capcom Digital Collection disc. Third Strike Online Edition is excellent and still worth buying for Street Fighter fans.

You get an exclusive soundtrack remixed by Simon Viklund for this port, as well as the Trials mode. Essentially, it is a challenge mode where you have to perform various combos for the many characters, along with a few special tasks. There are handicap trials and parry trials. In one of these trials, you have to recreate the Evo Moment 37, which is great. These exclusive features make this port a worthwhile purchase.

2 Worms Revolution

8 Xbox 360 Games You

The Worms series is a fantastic collection of turn-based tactical party games, and it's a bit sad that the last main installment, Worms W.M.D, dates back to 2016. Team17 used to produce these games abundantly, especially on the Xbox 360. In the Xbox 360 Store, there are four Worms games, and the pinnacle of the series on this system is Worms Revolution.

With more tools available than ever before, Worms Revolution is still an excellent time to enjoy with friends. It still holds up very well, even compared to the latest Worms title, and you only miss out on a few key features found in the newest game.

1 Wrecked: Revenge Revisited

8 Xbox 360 Games

Another high-quality party game that is only available digitally on the 360 is Wrecked: Revenge Revisited. It is a four-player car combat party title where you compete against other vehicles and aim to destroy them. If you are the last surviving car, you earn two points, while the remaining placements receive devalued point values, with the first eliminated car losing two points.

It's a lot of fun, and the title is exclusively available in the digital stores for the 360 and PS3, without a PC version. Wrecked is a great party game for the 360, and it's worth getting it for future family or friend gatherings.
