The Final Fantasy 16 1.03 update adds a helpful feature, after players expressed complaints

Two weeks after its long-awaited release, Final Fantasy 16 was updated to version 1.03 to address some player complaints and add a much-requested feature. The response on social media to the first update after the launch of Final Fantasy 16 was positive, with some players thanking the developers for their quick response with the desired feature.

As one of the highest-rated games of the year 2023 at the time of writing, Final Fantasy 16 has broken sales records and became the best-selling PS5 game in Japan with over 336,000 units sold. The latest entry in the Final Fantasy series sold over three million units worldwide in its sales window. While this number falls just short of the five million units that its predecessor, Final Fantasy 15, had, its sales were initially spread across the PS4 and Xbox One, making the launch of Final Fantasy 16 all the more notable given the smaller install base of the PS5. While Final Fantasy 16 has been praised for its visual effects and over-the-top Eikon battles, the game also had its flaws. However, some of these issues were addressed through the 1.03 update.

With a meager size of 267 MB, Final Fantasy 16 version 1.03 added the ability for players to adjust and disable motion blur. This feature was heavily requested on social media platforms after reports surfaced from some Final Fantasy 16 players becoming ill due to motion blur. There were reports of motion sickness and nausea after playing the game for a while. The motion blur now has a slider that can be turned off by moving it to zero, and it can be increased up to level five, as in the previous version.

Furthermore, three new control types have been added. One of the new control types, Type D, reverses the dodge and iconic abilities buttons, which may delight gamers who are used to dodging by pressing the circle button. In addition, the settings ranges for horizontal and vertical camera sensitivity have doubled, along with some stability fixes for the menus. Although it remains to be seen what impact these changes will have on players who are already in the endgame of Final Fantasy 16, it has not gone unnoticed that Creative Business Unit 3 has quickly responded to the complaints regarding motion blur. Players have taken note of this on social media.

With these new features and a variety of challenges that players can overcome, there are many reasons to recognize Final Fantasy 16 as an entertaining delight. The future will reveal what further refinements will be made.

Final Fantasy 16 is now available for the PS5.
