A beloved aspect of the Mortal Kombat games is that despite their seriousness, there is always a humorous side, especially in the pre-NetherRealm era. The 90s editions had a special charm that came from such a small team that was common at the time, and surprisingly, this feeling continued into the 2000s.

The PS2, GameCube, and Xbox versions of Mortal Kombat continued their trendy content, including wacky mini-games. Midway did not want these titles to be limited solely to fighting games, as these mini-games are not something you would see in Street Fighter or similar games. While the mini-games in Mortal Kombat are rare, they are still noteworthy.

8 Test Your Might

The most famous mini-game in Mortal Kombat is "Test Your Might". It appeared in numerous installments, including the very first one, and involves quickly pressing different buttons to raise the counter to a threshold value. At this point, one must press a button to attack, and if the value is above the threshold, the attack is executed, and one wins.

It is an entertaining party game, especially for two players - a fun diversion with your friend when you want a break from competitive gameplay. However, be careful not to strain your hands too much.

7 Test Your Sight

Test Your Sight is another party mini-game in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and Mortal Kombat 9. Like a classic carnival game, one must follow the path of the object that contains the sought-after key item. As the mini-game progresses, more cups are added, and the speed is significantly increased.

For many people, it will be fantastic, although some with less proficient tracking skills may have to guess in later rounds of the mini-game. However, Test Your Sight is much superior to the real-life version, as there are no sleights of hand to take away your money. It is a lot of fun, but it is regrettable that it is not included in more Mario Kart games.

6 Test Your Luck

There has always been a demand for more party-focused modes in fighting games. That is why in Street Fighter 6, there are Extreme Battles and in Mortal Kombat 9 and X, there is Test Your Luck, which is very similar. In this mini-game, a certain number of modifiers are randomly selected that can be applied to one or both players.

These modifiers can be drastic and sometimes lead to one-sided matches. However, at times, it can also be quite balanced, and one never knows what they will get. Test Your Luck can be played by two players in both games and is another entertaining variation, similar to the party modes in Super Smash Bros.

5 Test Your Balance

The PS Vita was an incredibly underrated system that not only offered many great exclusive titles but also impressive console ports. A definitive hidden gem for the platform was the port of Mortal Kombat 9. And it was not just a simple port, as many additions were made, including two new mini-games. One of which is Test Your Balance.

Since the PS Vita had Sixaxis motion controls, you balance your fighter by tilting the device in a direction. It is easy at first, but later on, you must contend with flying body parts that disturb your balance, and you must stay in a particular zone for a certain amount of time. It works phenomenally on the Vita, although it probably wouldn't fare as well on a bus or plane. If you are not in that situation, it is a challenging and entertaining time.

4 Test Your Slice

One of the most important childhood games for many was Fruit Ninja. It was the perfect mobile game to play on the go, and every version was of high quality, even the Kinect port. Since the PS Vita had a touchscreen, it made sense to develop a Fruit Ninja-like mini-game for the MK9 port, where all the fruits were replaced by corresponding body parts.

Test Your Slice is a solid Fruit Ninja clone with combos and bombs that you must detonate by shaking the Vita. It is a mini-game that would really only work on a touchscreen and provides a lot of arcade fun.

3 Motor Kombat

Mortal Kombat 8

The titles of the sixth generation of Mortal Kombat experimented quite a lot, and their mini-games were the craziest yet. In Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, there is Motor Kombat, a racing game in the style of Mario Kart. It is already ridiculous on the surface, but Midway put so much effort into this mini-game.

There are ten characters and five tracks here, and the gameplay is quite good and not as superficial as one might think. This could easily be a disposable mini-game inserted as a joke, but it is quite well-crafted. It is a lot of fun to play with friends and could be played just as often as the core fighting game.

2 Chess Kombat

Mortal Kombat

Exclusive to Mortal Kombat: Deception, there is Chess Kombat. It may look like a simple game of chess with Mortal Kombat characters, but there are several twists in the formula. The first is that when characters fight, you actually fight in traditional gameplay, which is nice compared to most other mini-games.

Another twist is that the traps that are placed guarantee a certain death if a character steps on them. Monitoring and managing the characters' health is also important, and overall, this mini-game is an interesting Mortal Kombat variation of chess. It supports two players, and although it is quite engaging, unlike Motor Kombat, it is not played as often as the core combat game.

1 Puzzle Kombat

Mortal

Another mini-game in Mortal Kombat: Deception is Puzzle Kombat. The gameplay and art style are very similar to Capcom's Super Puzzle Fighter. What makes it unique is that each character has their own super move, similar to a master ability in Peggle. This makes it crucial to select a character whose super move you can effectively use, as it can win you the game.

You fight against your opponent in multiple rounds and can even perform a Fatality at the end, which is a nice touch. Compared to Chess Kombat, Puzzle Kombat is likely to appeal more to most players and has a similarly high entertainment value in multiplayer mode, thanks to its broader appeal, much like Super Puzzle Fighter.
